Former Mayor Splitting Town, Selling Digs...

BROWNSVILLE, Texas | Former Mayor Pat Ahumada wants out of town. Who knows what the main reason is, but, boys, he did lose his last election and apparently has separated from his wife. Pretty sure he'll throw out a bone or two to the nosey press one of these days.

For now, he has posted the photo you see above.

Ahumada, perhaps the city's last of a feisty political breed, is leaving town. He has said as much on his Facebook page. But, then again, announcing such a thing is forever thrown around here, but people never leave.

Golden Paws, shown in photo at right, is his dog grooming business. That one, again for now, may just be renamed "Golden Pause," as some entrepreneur will likely scarf it up. Yes, there are that many mangy dogs in Brownsville. Not a bookstore of note in town, but plenty of skilled dog and human groomers.

A truckload of well-wishers on his FB page wished Ahumada the best of luck, but some also ask him not to leave town.

Ahumada lost his latest bid for the city commission (District 2) and then was summarily disqualified from seeking the mayorship this time around. John Cowen, a younger man, was the winner. He likely will keep the job awhile.
