I note this particular speech as an example of opposition parties tackling - or not tackling - issues related to poor and Middle-Class Americans. These days, the fight is always about "party," and rarely about how the so-called Average American is faring. The Kennedys were not always perfect, or right. But they did speak up. (One of my favorite all-time bookstores is located in Kennedy Country, in Hyannis Port on the Atlantic coast. Back when I wrote for The Boston Globe, some free weekends were spent roaming lovely Cape Cod with my then-wife and two young daughters. What a time it was.)...
