I Get All The News I Need In The Weather Report...

STAFF REPORT

McALLEN, Texas | Enjoy the day. It'll be the coolest one for the next few weeks. Nice, windblown morning in The City of Palms. The day's high temperature reading will be a tolerable 93 degrees, say the weatherboys.

Next, however, will be a short spurt of 99-degree days. Wednesday's expected 100-degree day (feels-like in the 110-degree range) will be followed by at least five days of similar temps. It could be higher, as most of you indifferent Rio Grande Valley denizens know.

That's just the forecast.

And, of course, there is the rest of always-baking July, to be followed in kind by the worst of summer in August. They call August the Dog Days of Summer, don't they?

Yes.

And, by the way, Brownsville some 60 miles downriver will fare a bit better. Its warmy high today is projected to be 91 degrees, with the possibility of rain after 11:00 AM.

Harlingen, that mid-Valley stalwart, will see temperatures today of 91 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies and no rain in the forecast. The variance between the far west end of the Valley (McAllen) and everything East of there is barely a few degrees.

The summer bake is not sparing anyone, even those who live closer to the Gulf Coast, like Brownsville.

Yeah, enjoy today. This cooling break is a rare one at this time of the year...
