Frustrated Ron DeSantis In Frantic Dog Paddle...

By EDUARDO PAZ-MARTINEZ

McALLEN, Texas | They're outright saying his campaign is foundering. Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is pooh-poohing that crap, even as it comes daily from overly critical, Right-Wing pundits dissing his presidential campaign against Donald J. Trump.

Recent polls indicate DeSantis is not making headway against the twice-indicted former president.

He's not happy.

This from a report at dailymail.com: [ Ron DeSantis blamed his bad poll numbers in the Republican presidential primary contest on "corporate media" who don't him running for president and said he's in it for the long haul, not looking to "juice" his numbers in the moment.

The Florida governor trails rival Donald Trump by 32 points in the RealClearPolitics polling average. The former president also leads in the key early-voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.

"I'm running to win in January and February. I'm not running to juice polling now," DeSantis told Fox News on Thursday evening.

"If you look at the people like the corporate media, who are they going after? Who do they not want to be the nominee? They're going after me," he said. ]

All the news media wants is a "horserace," someone pitted against someone else - that's our political culture. DeSantis did not name any "corporate media" specifically, so who knows what news outlet he is blaming.

If party ideology holds to form he likely meant the Cable News Network (CNN), one Republicans have been damning for years. The New York Times and Washington Post may be two others. DeSantis seems to get favorable press from FOX News, The Washington Examiner and The Wall Street Journal, so they're out.

He's not slamming them.

Oddly, DeSantis has been dogpaddling for weeks now. True, he has been banged around by Trump all along, but even his backers say he may already be a loser.

It's still a long, long, long way to next Spring's party primaries and subsequent presidential debates.

DeSantis out of gas at this point is a problem for him. Blasting the news media is just a waste of his time. Make the fight. Take it to the other guy, not the media.

The news media will do what they have to do.

Thin-skinned DeSantis needs to collar that fact...
