Too Hot To Handle...

STAFF REPORT

McALLEN, Texas | No need to keep saying it, right? But we will - it'll be another Hell-bent scorcher in the lovely Rio Grande Valley today. Temperatures peaking in the low-100-degree range. Today, and for the next four days, five or six perhaps.

How to stay cool and happy, is the drill one more time.

You've tired of ice-cold lemonade and cold-cut sandwiches (Italian tomato turkey, #3 slice at HEB). Time to own up to being human. Out, out into the world you must go.

Mexican actress Salma Hayek, shown in all her God-given beauty in photo above, is 56 years of age and wanting to show-off her - uh - physique. Salma wrote on Instagram that she was trying to de-stress amid summer's heat, writing her accompanying caption in both English and Spanish.

"Embracing the healing power of the sauna and sweating out the stress this #WorldWellbeingWeek," she wrote.

You can't blame her, can you?

Everybody's out.

McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos, shown in photo at left, checked in with his fans and constituents on Facebook with a photo taken while visiting tourist-trap Nuevo Progreso, Mexico and a handful of positive words about staying cool.

Others sought the municipal swimming pool, the beach and waters of South Padre Island or the air-conditioning of the shopping mall and better breakfast restaurants. It's the Long, Hot Summer, and we're there!

Those forecasts coming out of the tired mouths of local weatherboys hold steady to the fact that this heat is here to stay. Look for a cool down and maybe some rain by the end of the first week of July, which begins this Saturday. That's a maybe, okay?

Find a cool spot, a distraction or a new indoor hobby.

And, once more, keep track of your valuable cats and dogs, and your precious children. They have no idea about blazing heat or about what it does to the small body.

Be well, my friends...
