CONGRESS:...Lying, Grifting George Santos Finally Expelled From Congress...Democratic Governor Of NY To Schedule Replacement Election...

By DUARDO PAZ-MARTINEZ

McALLEN, Texas |...The lying grifter is out. Republican Congressman George Santos was expelled from Congress early today. The move was not unexpected, although some said the Republican leadership did not want to lose his vote.

So long, George.

You were always over-matched, Bub.

This from washingtonexaminer.com: [ In a historic vote, the House of Representatives voted to expel Rep. George Santos (R-NY) from Congress, making him just the sixth member of the House to face that punishment. In order to expel Santos, the House required a two-thirds majority, and the effort succeeded despite House GOP leadership voting against the resolution, citing concerns about future precedent. The expulsion passed with 311 voting for it, including 105 Republicans, 114 voting against it, and two voting present.

The vote ends an era in Congress in which, from the beginning, the embattled New York Republican continually made news for his antics, legal woes, lies, and flamboyant interactions with the media.

New York Republicans who have sought Santos's removal for months took a victory lap after the House adjourned on Friday, expressing confidence they can replace the former freshman with "a good conservative Republican."

"It's a sad day," said Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (R-NY), one of the New York Republicans who led the charge for Santos's ouster. "We wish we never had to be here. But now the focus on is on doing the work of the American people."

"We didn't want to spend the first 11 months talking about George Santos, and I hope today is the beginning of not having to talk about him," he added.

Other lawmakers echoed similar sentiments that his removal was not a cause for celebration but rather had to be done to uphold the standards of Congress. Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS), the chairman of the Ethics Committee that released the damning report, defended the panel's work, arguing his removal followed due process.

"The Constitution does not require a conviction. The Constitution just requires a two-thirds vote by the body," Guest said. "I'm not concerned that this sets some future precedent that members will be willy-nilly removed from Congress because of a behavior that people do not accept. I believe this is the exception to the rule, and I believe that probably within the last several decades that this is by far the worst corruption that we've seen."

His expulsion will now trigger a special election to carry out the rest of his term, with state law dictating Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) to schedule an election date within the next 10 days. The race is expected to draw a lot of attention as Democrats eye flipping the seat and further narrowing the GOP's already-slim majority. ]

Oddly enough, Santos, as a former congressman, can still walk about the House of Reps and treat himself to the congressional cafeteria and gym.

The seat will in all likelihood be won by a Democrat this next go-round.

And, already, more than two dozen candidates have surfaced...

  1. There's just as much evidence of lying against Trump though and he's still frontrunner for the Republican ticket. It's not like they are suddenly full of honor and integrity. But this is at least one small step in the right direction.

  2. Stop and think, people. They expelled a person that had committed crimes because he was a weak member of the party, but a guy that committed much more egregious crimes against the country, they keep making excuses for and would be willing to vote for as president. Go figure.

    1. Santos shows the future of GOP. It has evolved quite a lot since Newt Gingrich days. It has only gotten worse and worse since Newt was there.

This country is in deep trouble. There is a set of voters who want this drama, putting up fights, NO to compromise and not allowing the congress to function. The good people are caught up in these fights and inaction and over time will just give up and retire from congress.

  3. I think Santos is guilty, but I hold you are innocent until proven guilty. The Democrats will regret their vote. Menendez under this standard should be removed from the Senate. But the Democrats will not even consider it. This tit for tat will never end and the people will be the losers. Santos had no chance of winning his Primary. So what was the point?

    1. The point is that it needed to be done. Menendez will soon get his. Santos was simply an open cancer sore on his party and a gross embarrassment on the country. His silliness had dragged on and on and on...

    2. 105 Republicans voted to kick his ass out, buddy!

    3. I agree it needed to be done because it had reached the point of being bizarre. But over Menendez the Democrats are going to regret it. The Democrats have to win the Senate.

    4. The Democrats at present control the Senate. And even after Menendez, I don't see them losing this seat in New Jersey, by the way...

    5. It is not about NJ is about Republicans claiming a double standard. But at least Democrat Fetterman has called for Menendez expulsion. good for him.
The people want to clear out all the bad apples. https://news.yahoo.com/fetterman-santos-expulsion-now-fellow-170352722.html

    6. Ultimately, this one is about New Jersey, because that is the state Menendez represents. But I, playing Devil's advocate here, wonder about your thoughts on Donald Trump. You seem to be a Republican, so how do you explain him and his (lack of) virtues, his seeming untouchable being, his Teflon existence?...

    7. I am most certainly not a Trump supporter. You can say it is about NJ, but it is not. It about giving Republicans a basis to attack the Democrats in the Senate. But as the article says 30 Democrats now support removing Menendez. Maybe after today they will. And for the record the Democrats may take back the House. There are enough redistricting cases at this point wherein the Republicans have nowhere to turn and have to redraw the map to at least make one Republican district purple in several states. My argument is clear. Denying the Republicans any weapons against the Democrats. How that makes me a Trump supporter is something only you can understand.

    8. You're right: I have no idea who you are or aren't. Leave a name. Perhaps it will ring familiar. No, your argument is not clear. Perhaps it is in your brain, but it is not translating to the writing you submit. Sorry if I misinterpreted your earlier comment. I simply noted that you seemed to be a Republican. Feel free to flesh it out. Menendez is about New Jersey. Other fallout may bridge elsewhere, but it is New Jersey that will replace him...and no one else...

  4. Not only did he lie every time he opened his mouth, but the results of the Ethics Committee were also unbelievable which is what ultimately sunk him. He is a con artist and, like trump, has no shame, morals or ethics. Good riddance. There are still plenty more that need to go. Draining the swamp!

    1. At least he won't get a pension since he didn't serve the requisite 5 years. Now if we can get rid of Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene next year we'll save money on them as well since they will have only served 4 years each.

  8. They say Santos has been "earning" over $3,350 a week in taxpayer funds for doing absolutely nothing since he's been in Congress. He should have been dumped a long time ago.

  9. George Santos a "drag on the party's image"? And what is Trump? How can the same people who should have gotten rid of Santos think that Trump is good for the party or the country? Come on people!! Look at what you are working with and have the guts to say Trump is destroying your party and our country!!!
