LOS FRESNOS, Texas | Never let it be said that Los Fresnos Mayor Alejandro Flores credits himself for every little city government accomplishment. No, Flores always, always, always throws the credit towards God. God did it, he likes to say.
There was a little brush fire in town the other day and the Los Fresnos Fire Department dutifully responded and doused the small flames.
Mayor Flores did sort of in a roundabout way praise the firefighters.
He wrote on his Facebook page a quite-succinct one-liner: [ "God bless our Emergency Services." ]
Well, we know - and the firefighters know - who took care of the potential Hell blaze.
But it is now a daily visit to the front-row church pews with this mayor.
"Praise the Lord!!!" as campaign slogan?
He may go there eventually.
Born-again Mayor Flores is up for reelection later this year...
